Guitar Gallery has this unique 1958 National 1155E Acoustic Guitar in stock. With a Gibson built J45/J50 body, this National branded guitar is ideal for those looking for the quintessential 1950s soft shoulder Gibson dreadnought tone with a much more unique aesthetic and the added bonus of a magnetic pickup mounted in the last fret of the guitar. National was the flagship brand of Chicago's Valco factory, and curiously enough, Valco didn't have the manufacturing capability for acoustic guitar bodies, so they went to the very best, sourcing complete J45/J50 bodies direct from Gibson for the 1155E model.
Featuring all solid wood construction with mahogany back, sides and neck, spruce top, and a Brazilian rosewood fretboard, this guitar produces a resonant tone that is decidedly vintage. With a warm top end, smooth midrange, a tight present low end that never gets boomy, and a great acoustic tone that translates well through the Valco pickup, the 1155E would be right at home in anything from folk and Americana, to rootsy alt-country and blues.
The 1155E is a great example of the quality workmanship coming out of Gibson's Kalamazoo factory via the Valco factory in Chicago in the '50s and would be a great addition to any stage or studio arsenal.
